Our Story

Hi! I 'm Jack.

I  founded  Memory Vault while studying film production at the University of Missouri. While in school, I realized that the reason I was drawn to study film was because of its power to tell stories. Nothing beats the combination of visuals and audio for immersion when it comes to storytelling.

Meet My Grandpa Jack

This is my hero (and my namesake), Grandpa Jack. From the time I was born, I looked up to him as a role model. He would tell stories about his childhood in a small North Dakota town.

In the fall of 2022 (my sophomore year of college), Grandpa Jack was diagnosed with dementia. This was a very scary time for myself and my family. I had never experienced anyone in my life develop dementia, so the thought of my grandpa's stories fading over time was something I had never thought about before.

A Film Major's Solution

I decided to do what I knew best: make a video. In the spring of 2023, I took my grandpa to his hometown in North Dakota and interviewed him, making sure to get as much about his life story as possible. I asked my family for stories they wanted to make sure got recorded as well.

I also added in photos and videos from his life to help illustrate the stories.

Story Preservation For All!

The final product was met with great enthusiasm by my family. I realized soon after that this would be something special for a lot of families, so I created a business to help capture and preserve as many memories as possible through digitization and life story video interviews.
